Tanya Bostick, B. Mus., B.Ed, RMT, MYCC
Following graduation from Mount Allison University in 1996, Tanya embarked on a career teaching grades K-12 Choral, Instrumental and General Music. In 2003, Tanya began looking for a family –oriented, quality music program to offer to families in the Sackville and Amherst areas. In 2004, she and husband, Shawn Bostick, opened the Bostick School of Music where Tanya began teaching Music for Young Children. In 2008, Musicpups for babies and toddlers was added to the programming at the Bostick School of Music.
In addition to Piano, Vocal/Choral and Instrumental Adjudicating, she is also a regular presenter to Piano Pedagogy and Elementary and Secondary Methods students at Mount Allison University, along with speaking at various Professional Development Seminars for Music Educators in Southeastern New Brunswick. She is also instructor at l’Universite de Moncton Classical Camps, held each summer.
Tanya belongs to the Canadian Music Educators Association; the Nova Scotia Music Educator’s Association and is an active member of the Sackville Music Teachers Association, a branch of the New Brunswick Registered Music Teachers Association. She performs regularly in a variety of genres and venues as accompanist, soloist and as an ensemble performer, most notably as jazz ensemble performer in the group “Cosmo”. Most recently, Tanya collaborated as Recording Artist on the Sackville Cultural Capitals CD project commemorating the diverse talents of Sackville’s Musicians.
Shawn Bostick, B. Mus., Dip. Jazz, R.M.T
Following graduation from Saint Francis Xavier University in 1999, Shawn opened Bostick Drum Studio. Fueled with a passion to incite greatness in his students, Shawn developed his own curriculum for drumset and mallet percussion study. In 2002, Shawn added a new element to his studio teaching, inviting his dedicated students to be in DRUMBA, Sackville’s first Percussion Ensemble.
Since DRUMBA’s inception, they have recorded two CD’s, toured many maritime schools playing to thousands of children and performed several community concerts. They have received excellent reviews from Adjdicators at the Sackville Music Festival.
Shawn was delighted when he and wife Tanya opened the Bostick School of Music, offering Music for Young Children, Piano and Percussion Instruction.
Shawn belongs to the Percussive Arts Society, the Canadian Music
Educators Association, the Nova Scotia Music Educator’s Association
and is an active member of the Sackville Music Teachers Association. Shawn also belongs to the East Coast Music Association, Music New Brunswick and CARAS.
Shawn has performed in a wide variety of genres, both as ensemble
performer and soloist. Most recently, Shawn performed with the Atlantic Wind Orchestra in Halifax.
Along with Shawn’s studio activities, he is also the Atlantic Regional Director of the Canadian Music Centre; a national non-profit organization which promotes and encourages the performing and exposure of Canadian music.
